Ask yourself:
When was the last time that the incumbent Chapter president or Executive Vice President were subject to the productivity index?
When was the last time that the incumbent Chapter President or Executive Vice President had to deal with the Auxiliary Work Tool as an employee?
How can someone advocate and negotiate on important issues if they have not performed this work daily let alone in nearly nine years?
Our Commitments to Our chapter
Consistent Communication: Regular communication from your Chapter President, routine publications, and an updated website to ensure clear access for all members to obtain reliable information.
Focus on our members: We will focus on the most important issues that our members face to ensure timely and effective solutions.
Accountability: Each member is entitled to know how our chapter spends dues and what actions our elected executive board officers take with regularly published reports.
Equal Representation: Every Executive Board member will have an equal say in guiding our Chapter. Elected Executive Board Officers will work with our representation team to learn about the issues and concerns that our members contend with daily.
Active Board Members: This is an important tenant to our team. We will dedicate ourselves to performance and accountability to improve everyone’s work-life balance.
Bylaws: NTEU National regularly updates its bylaws. Our bylaws have not been updated in decades. We need to work with the experts at NTEU National to bring our Chapter into the 21st Century.
Vice President at Large: The true power of our Chapter is its members. We need to refocus the role of the Vice President at Large and the Regional Vice Presidents’ Advisory Board to increase membership, promote communication, and to strengthen our positions when negotiating.
Chief Steward: For far too long, our Chapter reinvents the wheel each time we face obstacles. Given that many of the candidates on our ticket and our Chapter representation team stood with members at Weingarten Meetings, grieved all kinds of contract violations including Opportunity to Perform Successfully (OPS) Plans, and negotiated for positive results at local levels, it is time that we formalize a mentoring program and standardize our Chapter’s positions and business processes to establish strong precedent from which we will build continued success.
